Air conditioner

The A.C. in the Concord is not playing the way I think it should. It is a Dometic Penguin 2. With heat pump..it will go along nicely for a while then just shut off..I have the fan set to lo ,not automatic. Fortunately we installed @nother unit in back..it will eventually come back on but I don't like the way it is operating.just wondering if this is the way these highly efficient units operate. The temp outside was around 75 and I had the unit set on 70. Any ideas?

When it shut off did it satisfy the thermostat?

Mine will shut off set at 70 on a 75 day. That isn't a huge cooling swing.
If you have two A/C's running, I would think it would satisfy very easily.

Yes I think so but I expected the fan to keep running.

The fan should keep running, at least on mine it does. The only time the fan shuts off is if it is on Auto. High or Low setting and the fan runs continuously. We mainly use that setting at night for the white noise and to keep air moving. I am still a one AC guy.

Yes, you didn't mention what brand A/C you have but almost all units will shut fan off when auto is selected and thermostat is satisfied.

In high or low the compressor shuts off when the thermostat is satisfied but the fan will continue to run.

The EXCEPTION being on Dometic units with a digital thermostat, the fan will run when set to Auto when in furnace mode. This helps circulate the warm air that rises. It won't run if lo or high is selected.

It is a Dometic. Appears to work well when it is hot out but at night when it cools down it has problems. Has ran flawlessly all day..I to set the fan on hi or lo at night for the noise..but the unit shuts down..And I don't have a book on it. Everything but A.C.. I am
not fond of this digital thermostat nor the heat pump..says it won't work if outside is under 40..Yippee

You can find all manuals online for the AC system. Also at the Forest River site.
