Any chance I could impose and ask for a spring picture?
I am getting nowhere with the spring issue. Ford says its the manufacturers fault and Coachmen says they build on heavier chassis than required to assure adequate capacity.
It may be that a flatter spring with a loaded coach is the natural order of things but I don't know.
Might I impose on those with Encounters to take a flash picture of their springs so I can compare?
Rear axle passenger side please? Requires some wiggling under at the front of the rear wheel and then looking back and up at the suspension. It's the long leaf spring I am interested in.
If not possible I understand.
Thanks,
Roll

Roll,
Here are a few pictures of our right rear leaf spring as you requested. As you can see there is quite a bit of curve in the spring especially behind the axle. The axle rear mount appears to be 8 or 10 inches higher than the front mount.
I also attached a photo of our latest disappointment - leaking cooling unit in our Dometic RM1350 refrigerator. The dealer has a new cooling unit on order and we take the coach in this Friday for replacement next week.
We are also signed up for the Coachmen Service & Seminar Rally in Centreville, MI. I plan to have our slides adjusted and hope to get a lesson in adjustment procedure from their service staff. One of the issues with our right side living/dining room slide is excess compression of the exterior rubber gasket. The gasket compresses so far that the slide outside edge rubs on the coach exterior and is wearing the paint in a few areas.
Good luck with your springs!!

Roll- I don't have the coach here to snap a picture - are you good with what's here?
LLVanB - I have that same issue with the slide and paint coming off. We had ours adjusted by the dealer late last year, and now will have to touch up the paint in a few areas. So far, so good.
Also had the slide out seal fixed on the back bedroom slide. I could actually see daylight at the very edge of the bed by the back wall...
I will ensure we check our fridge too, based on your feedback. Thanks!

Yes, I'm good to go. With the coach up on a lift yesterday I was able to see there is some arch, not a lot but they are not literally flat. Height is good frame to ground (within 1/8 inch) but still some body difference (1 1/4 inch). Checking into that.
As for springs I contacted Brazels in Washington; they do many many motorhomes, (suspension and tuning among other things). They tell me I have nothing to worry about, they see loaded coaches all the time and as long as the axle weight is under the Ford rated amount (mine is), not to worry. There was more to the conversation but that was the final message.

leaf pics
Really hard to get good angle under my coach. Took two shots to get it. Both are the passenger side leaf spring one is looking aft which has a slight curve, the other is from the back looking forward and has a very decent curve (5-7 degrees?) The driver side is identical, and even more crowded (am I too (@$@^@& tall?) There are other pics in my public albums. My leafs look just like LLVanB's.

Thanks big guy! :-)
The angle may be deceiving. The first picture is fairly decent and frankly, looks just like my springs. I do have some arch just not a lot. I've been told by a shop that does suspension mods for motorhomes that I don't have a problem and that they wouldn't give it another thought. It's fine they said.
