Dometic thermostat

Has anyone had a problem with the digital dometic thermostats mine acts a little strange. When I ran a/c the fan kicked on and off a bunch turned everything thing off and back on seemed to work correctly.

Short cycling is not normally caused by the stat. usually its caused by a dirty air filter (restricted air flow), low refrigerant, Iced over coils or a bad control board. Check the easy things first. Let the forum know what you find

One of the modes of operation of those thermostats is that they will shut down the fan when switching speeds when in Auto.

They automatically switch fan speeds when the temp is either getting close to set-point or moving away from set-point. If your unit was hovering around set-point a few degrees the unit could have been switching fan speeds pretty regularly.

You'll normally hear the compressor remain running, but the fan will stop a few seconds and switch speeds.

Mine does something similar when the temp I choose is easy to accomplish by the a/c. So, I would try to set it up at a lower temp to see if it makes any difference. I had a FW and now a MH with these kind of thermostat. They are more tricky than the old simple ones. Actually, my unit has two different ones since it has two separate furnaces. The one that only handles the bedroom furnace, which the non-digital one is easier to operate.

This is what it is doing. I have the same thermostat in my Concord and it does it on occasion. Another thing you can try is to reset the thermostat. It is in the manual somewhere on how to initialize it.

Something I have noted is that the internal thermometer on it is not all that accurate. We have to set our A/C temps a bit lower than normal and our heat temps a bit warmer than what we would at home to get things to level out properly. I use a stand along thermometer to keep track of what is comfortable, then adjust the thermostat accordingly.

We have this same issue. Cycling sometimes off and on within a couple minutes... super annoying. Our only fix is to bring the temp ask way up or down and that usually seems to shake the looping effect off. But if someone else has a better suggestion; great!

Ps- in our coach documentation for the dometic thermostat we got a single post card size page of instructions. Nothing about how to reset the thermostat.

Thanks jonwisconsin. The links you provided took me to a short video of the model I have. It’s a dometic single zone 3 button heat and cooling thermostat. Don’t have the manual but maybe that model only comes with a one page leaflet.
