Freelander not level when sitting on a level spot
I'm curious why my Freelander's front end is lower than the backend. (No slide out.)
It would seem to me that the interior floor should be level when parked on a level spot. It is loaded with water and supplies.
All the tires are new and the same size, actually the same tires that came on the unit from the factory in 2007.
So I assume this is normal, but why?

The back end is higher to accommodate the weight of the water tanks and for towing, just like on a pick up truck.

Are you saying that the tires are 8 years old?

Don't think that's what he is saying. I understand it they are the same size as came on it EXCEPT new.

Any thoughts on having lowering shackles installed to make the vehicle sit level?
I'm getting tired of have to level the vehicle when I'm parking on level ground. I have no plans to ever tow a vehicle behind this motorhome.

If you lower the rear end enough to level the coach you will reduce the rear end's ground clearance a lot.

The leveling jacks are easy to use and don't just level the rig, they provide stability as you move around inside.
Are the jacks just too much trouble?

This Coachman is 24' so it doesn't have a lot over hanging the rear wheels like the longer units. I have to lift the front end about 4" on a level site.
We use this vehicle at festivals and expos when my wife is performing there. Most of the parking lots where we stay are level to start with, so it seems odd to have block it up. Since we don't tow, if we need to run out to get something or have to move during the show, using jacks would be a real pain in the butt.
We just came back from a 12 day vacation up through Canada and down the coast of Maine, none of the places we stayed had anyplace that was close to scraping. Today we start a 13 weekend run before we have an unbooked weekend, so we're not out just once and awhile.

I would not be concerned about clearance in parks and parking lots. It is the gas stations that will probably get you if you lower the rear.
I must say that I fail to see how jacks would be a pain. One button push to retract all jacks and the 30 seconds it takes does not seem like a lot of effort for a nice, level, solid platform to me.
Anyway, enjoy your travels.

Well actually the question was about lowering shackles, not hydraulic jack
systems...
