Generator overheat

Though I've read about it here several times it struck me yesterday for the first time - genny turned off while running and idle about 15 mins of operation after traveling about 20 mi. to pick up family for a day outing to a nearby park. Ambient temps were low 80s. Big disappointment. Considering the prevalence just on this site for this issue, FR should retrofit and recall.

Good news was that once at camp i propped up the door, gave it an hour break and the genny ran fine til lights out.

make a complaint

I think the more people contact Forest River (nate hedges or who ever) about this problem the more they are apt to make a retrofit

what kind of generator is it. Was it factory installed or dealer installed. cause if it is an onan they have to separate the air from the intake and the hot air that is exhauted from cooling the motor. there is a duck kit for mounting it that keeps the two separate.

A search for Onan Duct Kit and Onan Intake Duct Kit yields no results applicable to this application. Do you have a specific reference?
