Hot Water Heater Element

I have a 2007 Coachman Freedom Express 26SO and I believe the heating element is burned out on the hot water heater. Everytime I hook up the RV to the house power it trips the house circuit breaker off with the hot water switch on. I believe I burned the element up accidently not filling up the tank and turning on the heater, NUTS! Anyway I would like to remediate the problem by fixing it myself. Can anyone guide me as to how to find this heating element on this Atwood hot water heater. The element isn't in the outside panel as far as I can see and I am wondering if it is behind this hard to access silver box mounted to the tank with the main electric line connected to it. I have searched the internet feverishly to no avail as to how to find and replace the element. No clue how to repair this problem.

http://www.atwoodmobile.com/manuals/...rPartsList.pdf

This will provide you with a schematic. Looks like it is inside RV. Try part number in Amazon.com. They sell elements, BUT watch for the watts rating. I ordered a 1450 watt and received a 1400 watt. IF your element has the socket configuration, you will benefit by ordering the socket from Amazon. As a lot of us are, you are now a member of the "oh I forgot to fill it with water" before I hit the switch. Instant destruction of the heating element

I just thought about the other day. I replaced mine on my previous trailer and it was pretty easy. Just follow the above recommendation and / or watch a YouTube.

My question is this rig is a 2015 and about how long to these tend to last?

As long as you do not try to use them with out water they will last a long time. Later RJD

That makes sense. I purchased a used TT about 3 yrs old. I replaced the electrode just to be sure and when I did it was only about 1/2 Used up.

Thanks

Your use of the term "Used up" implies you are talking about a sacrificial anode rod in a Suburban heater. The OP is talking about the electric heating element/coil.
