That's funny. We are here in Minnesota too and you better believe they would build them to handle colder weather. In Elkhart they think +20 is cold.

We also have a 13' Scamp built over in Backus MN.

I wonder what their parameters are for temperature?

The only insulation it has is a single layer Reflextic bubble type.

Their catalog doesn't show a Cold Weather version!

+20 isn't cold, it's frigid.

I guess the "race to the bottom" is just too strong for an RV company to consider continuous improvement as better than continuous cost cutting.

I know this has taught me to never recommend any FR product to friends. Have already steered a close friend away from FR for his purchase this fall as I do not want to be blamed for suggesting he buy an RV from a company with such a poor track record on quality and functionality.
Tireman,

Please don't take this as a slam but I really am confused.
You are an experienced RV'r and a Quality Engineer for a major manufacturer. Should these things that you complain about not have been noticed by you prior to your purchase. When I looked to upgrade, I knew what the challenges were with winterizing. I knew to look at the AC and Heat vent placements and how efficient they would be for my lifestyle.

I'm wondering is this thread really about an issue you are having or a chance to get on a soap box!

Just an observation, good luck with your issues.

Oh, c'mon ...

+20F is T-shirt weather. Shovel the walk, snowblow the driveway in your 'jammies and slippers.

Why do you think the snowblower has a can/cup holder on it ???

And to everyone of you out there where the campgrounds are still open ... unlike here ...

You are in a far, far better place ...
