That is exactly how we ended up with 27KB. The Vista/Sunstar 27N is $25k more on the window and about 30K more out the door considering discount and tax.
The Coachmen 27KB is also cheaper than comparably equiped Class C's. Its also hard to find the higher end units without thousands of $'s in paint.

what helped your decision on getting the 27kb?
all of these improvements you did (e.g. sway bar, 5-star tune, etc) were those
"necessary" to the make ride/quality good or simply upgrades to a good mh?

love your impression in helping my decision. also, what kind of mpg does it get?
The decision has to be yours as you are the only one that knows your requirements, desires and circumstances. Soooo, I suggest you sit down with the boss and make a must have, want list. Then find out what floorplan fits your lifestyle/circumstances. Research and RV shows follow. When you find your best fit you can shop. RV show prices are normally about 10% high with the blowout exception. At that point you will be in love with it. It will be the best MH ever. Now all you have to do is come up with $$$'s.

I got 8mpg avg over 10,000 mile trip with no toad. Im hoping that I can get 8-9 with my toad after I add the 5 star.

I would not reccommend the 27KB to anyone that does not possess the KSA's necessary to make this unit a diamond in the rough. Did I have to do everything I did and plan to do? Yes. But that is because it is appropriate for my requirements, desires and circumstances.

Just in front of the fuzzy alarm system is the console mentioned in #4 of the list posted in this thread.
If it is something you are interested in I will look through my papers and find where I got it. (hopefully)

Email sent with detail.
For anyone else interested. The console is a Wolf 38002202L - Taupe Floor Console with lock. Alternate part number may be W5038002202L

I like the fuzzy alarm system.

I would like to get the console used in the similar rv thor ace as it is a lower profile and I already have a gps mount near the front.

5th picture on link below.

Duckogram,

Looks like you have been 'extensively' been thru this unit. I have a couple of questions for you.

1. why did you pick the Tigertrak over the others? The safe-T-plus seems to be very popular post wise but I don't know the difference.

2. you spent some time and effort on heat shields and air flow for the generator area.
Is this something you purchased and installed or did you fabricate something. Sounds like the engine heat might be an issue?

I have several items I have collected over the last 2 months waiting for Spring to break and these are probably more of a concern to me than most other mods. Thanks for all the insight.

...
Indeed I have. I knew what I was buying and had no dilusions about what would be needed to make it "fit".

1. I chose the BlueOx Tiger track because it is heavier and engineered better then the other choices. The SafeTPlus is an entirely different story. I contemplated buying the BlueOx TruCenter but I felt that I could get what I needed at a much lower cost.

2. I spent a lot if time on the overheating genny issue because it almost killed our fur kids. The heat shield was fabricated at the factory under warranty and the fresh air vent was fabricated in Fontana, California. Both while we were on the road. The combination solved the problem. We only travel during the summer so the ambient heat combined with the heat off the V-10 exposed the apperant design flaw regarding the placement of the genset. That flaw was tested and documented by Cummins/Onan. They even predicted the fuel pump failure.

If you do not travel during the summer and run the genset on the road followed by parking and leaving the pups while you explore, you will most likely not experience the problem. The chassis AC does not keep up with ambient air temps much above 80* and with the summer sun shining away.
