Ordered my LED replacement lights

Ordered from M4 Products where 1nshort bought his LEDs. Using his posts on the topic http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ter-34183.html (see page 8 for the details of his research) I ordered:

11 LEDs to replace the 10w halogen bulbs in the ceiling puck lights
2 LEDs to replace the map lights
2 LEDs to replace the desk lights (I used micros for these)
5 LEDs for the reading lights (Bed, Couch, and counter top by the door)

Will hopefully have the lights early this week in time for the next trip out.

Well 1nshort, your recommendations were spot on. Only change was that I had to order the micro lights for the two desktop overhead lights. Quite a difference in the warm white and the cool bright white. I used the bright white for the map lights and reading lights and the warm white for the ceiling puck lights.

Only one issue, on installing the first ceiling light it was slightly tilted to the side after I installed it, I attempted to twist is just a bit to make it straight and broke the LED light. I'll have to order another one unfortunately since I ordered only what I needed and no spares.

Again, thanks for the work and information, I am very pleased with the LED replacements.

Might be a rookie question, but how do you get to the bulbs in the ceiling lights?

Roll,
The last lights I am replacing are the flourescent tubes, I have identified three different technologies to test. LED Tubes, LED strips, LED array (4 unit array for 11 inch tube, 6 unit array for 18 inch tube). Ours are the 11 inch tubes. There is the opportunity to save 3 amps per flourescent fixture with a load of only .5 amps per fixture. Also I will be testing the two LED dimmers I bought previously as well. I get the coach back next weekend now that the dealer has, (supposedly), fixed the slide/gasket eating paint problem. Yeah, if the sockets are not in straight, the pucks would be tilted, I had a couple that were slightly tilted. Didn't have much effect though.

Do you have a Coachmen that has the round thick glass covers? If so, put your palm firmly on the glass and rotate the glass. It will then come off. Alternatively gripp the edge of the glass with your fingers pushing up with firm pressure and rotate the glass. Either way will work. They are basically twist locks. If your lights are zeon or other gas pressure lights, you will save a lot of heat and many amps by going to LED.

Actually the lights are rectangular with rounded corners, 2 bulbs in each.

That is a different kind of light. Are they white plastic with clear lenses?

If so you gently pry one side out and the lens will drop out giving you access to the bulbs.

Okay, from what you are saying is that you have the standard two bulb enclosure with plastic covers.Correct? If so they are a press type with small tabs. With both hands grab each side with your fingers, front and rear, squeeze and pull down. This should remove the bulb lens covers. You might have to use a bit of pressure. If the light bulbs are bayonet type (and I think they are), there are a number of replacement LEDs you can buy. The choices will include Bright Whit and Warm White. The bright white are like daylite and the soft white are like your incandescent with a slight yellow color.

Don't forget to order a bulb for the light in the range hood. That one always seems to be left on for long periods. Also, the outside (usually amber) convenience light. I'm so AR that I even replaced the fridge lightbulb with an LED.

I have a convection microwave so the range hood is 117v. Guess i could put in a 40watt Cree. Forgot about the fridge.. nice catch! Already got the porch. I will post the flourescent results soon after they get here.

I'm happy now with my change over to LEDs. It was never my intention to replace all the lighting but the halogen lights were a target.

Now I can put my hand on the ceiling puck lights and they are barely warm, prior to the change I think I would have been burned. The reading lamps are the same and I did burn my fingers once or twice when I accidentally touched a reading light trying to find the off switch.

I'm happy; thanks Denis (1nshort) for the work.
