Our new Leprechaun 240FS

Good afternoon.

We pick up our new 240FS on Thursday. This is our first RV and we are new to the forum. We are coming from a Hybrid camping trailer, which was roomy but lots of setup and take down that we are pleased to leave behind.

Any advice from other owners is appreciated, especially during the acceptance process so we catch things that could have been missed!

Thanks

Make them turn on EVERY system in the coach. Have water in it, turn on the water pump, water heater.
How do you get the slides in and out if you lose power.
Does the fridge get cold? Tell the dealer to turn it on the night before you pick it up so you can see that it is operating properly.
Where are the fuses and breakers for the coach and the engine?
Put a cup of water in the microwave and see if it actually gets hot after a minute.
Run all the AC units, turn on the furnace and see if it blows hot air.
How/Where are all the hook ups. Electric, water, sewer, cable.
Does it have a generator? If so, make them unplug from house power and run it, make sure it powers what it should.
Hope that helps.

Check ALL DVD/CD players, bring your own discs. Make sure EVERYTHING is fixed before you leave the lot. I did a thorough walk through of our unit, gave them the list and told them I would double check when we picked it up a week later. Everything on the list had been taken care of. Only issue we had missed on the original walk through was a bad A/B switch on the outside TV. I told them to mail it to me.

Search CHECKLIST on the forum. In the results look for PDI. There are several Pre-delivery Inspection lists you will find and can print out. Look them over and find one to use and take with you in hard copy. Expect to spend 2-3+ hours going through it with a dealer helper demonstrating EVERYTHING. Video it. You do it after the dealer helper.
Document everything that needs attention. Have them fix it before you leave with the unit.
Spend a night or two in it at the dealer onsite camp lot.
Look up You Tube RV driving videos before you go to pick it up. Gas stations are an area that you can damage your unit easily unless you have experience driving vehicles with tail swing.
Enjoy

We picked up the machine today. All the suggestions were very helpful. The PDI took almost 4 hours today. The service technician was very helpful. We found a few minor items that were corrected (the water line near the pump was kinked - I had it replaced, the main DVD player did not work as the cable was broken-also replaced, and when I noticed the water pump coming on and off repeatedly we found a leak behind the hot water tank and that fitting had to be replaced.)

She's home now, we head out on the road in a few days for a couple of days of camping.

Thanks again

Braden

Make sure your tv is working properly. We didn't and it ended up being a nightmare. Bad antenna wire up in the rooftop.
Good luck

Bought ours a few months back. Took it out a few times so far. Definitely had some issues but all has been taken care of. 6 months until retirement. Congrats on your new MH. The 240fs is a nice one. Mark from east of San Diego.

Bought ours in 2017 Feb but was made in 2016 and used as a rental until we bought it from a RV dealer. Still needed small stuff fixed and today bought new tires for the thing at 42,000 miles.
