Pursuit 33bh anyone?

A search of the forum yielded 0 results. I'm going to venture a guess that a 33' bunkhouse on an 18k chassis is not the best plan but for $80k you get a fair amount of bang for you buck.

Most of the bunkhouses we've been looking at 31-33 feet all have the same F53 18k chassis. Is this not enough? I've looked at the Winnebago Vista, Fleetwood Storm, and the Pursuit. None give an option for the heavier chassis, at least that's what we were told. New to the motorhome stuff so any help is appreciated. Thanks

Look at Vista LX 35T and Baystar Sport 3004 & 3306. The 35T is in the price range but slightly larger. There are others as well. Here is some fuzzy math for you:
15,000 wet weight (conservative estimate)
6 people
all the toys
dogs
DW's shoes
Food
Clothes
Then add water for boondocking
Still think 18k is enough?
You planning on bringing the trailer?

I understand payloads and weights but the one we are looking at has no other chassis option. I'm trying to find the published weight on it to see what payload it has.

There is no published weight as each unit is weighed and labled at plant310. You can get an "average" by calling a dealer that has one and ask what the Cargo Carrying Capacity is on the little yellow label.
That 15k lb wet estimate I used is going to be pretty close as my 27KB is labeled 13,500 lbs. ...
So what I was trying to relate to you is that you will have about 3000 lbs for everything. Will that be enough for your intended use? Probably, but you will be at the top end. Basically, I just don't think thats the best plan which is why I brought it up.

We are packed pretty light in the 5th wheel and planned on scaling that down to fit into a smaller unit. Let me ask you, how do you factor in a toad? My understanding is if I dolly tow, the tongue weight is factored into the usable payload. What about flat towing? I'm assuming there is no tongue load figured in?

The one pursuit has 2068 lbs in reserve, not much.

Flat tow only adds the weight full weight of the toad to the combined gross or CGVWR which is 23k for the 18k chassis. For dolly @ trailer applications you have 5000 lbs max and 500 lbs on the hitch. The 500lbs goes against your GVWR.
