Slinky Thingy
How is that slinky thingy supposed to work?
Will be taking her on her maiden voyage next week.
We just haven't had time to do a CHF. We did purchase a large hose clamp to slide on in the hope that everything will stay attached to the underneath of the chassis.
As always, thank you in advance.
Regards and Happy Easter.

It might help if you use the actual name of what ever you are talking about. I'm assuming you are referring to the waste discharge hose if so it attaches with the provided locking device.

Clamp!
Did you buy a scalpel and forceps to go with that?

I'm referring to the correct way to attach the sewer hose to the device that swings out from underneath the motor home. When we did our walk throught 2 months ago, it was mentioned that the sewer hose can be retracted into the device in some manner, but I'm not sure how the sewer hose connects at the valve.
Hope that is explicit enough.

You should have been supplied with a two or four tab hose connector that attaches to the hose and locks onto the drain just downstream of the grey and black water release valves.
It should look sort of like the orange connector at the top left of these pictures.

New Question for Coachmen 300TS
When we did our walkthrough, the swing out sewer attachment was demonstrated but that was two months ago. We're going on our maiden voyage next week, and I cannot recall how the sewer hose should be attached. Please help and as usual, thank you in advance.
PS We're gonna have to go with it for now,,,plan to re-do later.

Sorry, I never used mine. I do remember none of the techs at the dealership knew how it worked. Mine didn't come with any sewer hose(s) and the 2 that I bought were too long to cram inside it. They had to take one apart and cut off a foot... then it took them 30 minutes to reattach the end of it. HUGE hassle, plus it drags.
I took that whole thing OFF in less than 15 minutes... If you can find a spare 15 minutes I would strongly suggest removing it.
Sorry for not answering your question... I hate that. ;-)

The hose is supposed to store in the contraption.
- Swing Contraption out
- Take sewer cap off camper
- Attach back end of hose to camper outlet
- Open contraption
- Pull hose out and attach to sewer
- Pull black tank handle and stand WAAAAAY back.
After the cussing subsides get rid of the damned thing and just use the hose.

Wah, at the end of the contraption under the chassis, is that a proper place to connect the sewer hose and tighten it in those holders that remind me of ears? If so, I can definitely see removing said contraption.

Blackie, I think I get it now...where the contraption attaches to the black and gray water tank outlet is where you can attach the sewer hose and forget the contraption, correct?

If you look on the ground, (in the photo) you'll see a "see through" elbow gizmo that I normally attach between the ABS outlet and the stinky slinky. It has a knife valve and a place to connect a water hose to flush either the black tank or just the hose. I opted not to use it this time due to the angle of running the stinky slinky. It's really tight quarters to use that see through elbow. Works great if running the sewer hose towards the BACK, very bad angle to run it towards the front. Hope this helps. God knows Aaron, John and others have helped me out TREMENDOUSLY.

Yes
It might be easier to hook the hose up before swinging the contraption out. I really don't remember, never used mine. Took it off as soon as I got the rig home from the dealer, managed to drag it twice in less than an hour after leaving the dealer.
Eventually I plan to completely re-plumb that mess under there, use electric valves and possibly a macerator pump. Currently I use a Sewer Solution when I dump, which is usually at home or at a full hookup site. Most of our current trips are under a week at the local state park, or an overnight in a parking lot or driveway. We go out with empty tanks and dump when we get home. Our longer trips are at an RV resort that has full hookups so we use the Sewer Solution there when we need to dump and usually leave with empty tanks.

Slingy Thing
The theory behind this set-up is good, but the set-up isn't. Like most owners have commented, it isn't uncommon for the tube to drag. I dis-assembled the unit, turned the tube so the handle is on the side, not the top. I then was able to raise the whole unit approx 1-1/2" and have not had any clearance problems. I actually like it now. It is convenient and holds a 12' hose.
