I was not sure as well on PSI and benefits. Research suggested that when not towing, 40-50 pounds not to exceed 80 when towing.
Also read and tried it last month, traveling with at least to 2/3 full water tank. Last trip, ran tank water, 45 pounds in bags and full tank of gas, provided the best ride yet.

We have 45 psi with 1/3 tank of fresh water and a full tank of gas while towing. Helps tremendously with listing left and right in stiff winds.
