Welcome to the group Steve!

Just an FYI. There is an Aviator Electra for sale in Oregon for 45K. With only 70 Aviators ever built, this is a rare opportunity to own a piece of RV history!

Welcome Robert to the forum, and to our Aviator owners group. Each new member is like finding a lost relative! Post the last four digits of your ser#19XX by your name. I know there are a few other owners in Texas you may be near. we can answer most questions, probably better than the dealer, so feel free to ask!

Welcome to the group, Refaman. We are small, but fun-loving group of folks with a very unique travel trailer. Any questions you may have with your Aviator can probably be answered here. You may have answers to questions we have, so just chime in.

How about posting a few pix of the warm and sunny Keys you lucky dog?!
Us snow-belters need a dose of the tropics!

Didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings This is the view from the gulf side of Jolly Roger RV CG on Marathon Key. It just doesn't get any better than this. Having too much fun to remember taking pix, but will try harder tomorrow. 80* here today. Life is good!

I showed my wife and she says she is too jealous to even comment! Some day we will make to the Keys but until then we will just have to live vicariously through your pictures!

I'll send more tomorrow, but first priority is to fix my drop-down wheels on the inflatable. They need to be stronger to carry the 90lb motor on it. Didn't figure I'd be hauling it with the motor onboard, but it's real convenient to do so here. We are leaving it tied [chained] to the dock at nights as they have great video surveillance here. We can go to a CG TV channel and see the boat 24/7 at the dock.

How are you going to make the wheels stronger while camping? Got a shop in the back of your truck? Knowing you, you probably do!

I carry enough tools to open a machine shop. All I need is a hardware store to get the parts I need to fabricate the mods I need. Embarrassed I didn't do it right the first time. That's not me usually. Usually it's overkill, just not this time.

You built it to carry the boat without the engine and it worked as designed. Now that you're carrying the motor you just got a little extra work to do. Even camping I can only relax for so long so a little project is always welcome. I removed and repainted all my outside hardware last summer while camping. Always feels good to make things a little better!

I could find a project in an empty closet. Can't sit still even at 70. I'm not sure if being mechaniclly inclined is a gift or a curse. I'll rest when I'm dead.

What's the allure to the aviator?

What makes them worth $80k?

Most sold for 45 to 65k new. The allure is they are rot proof with composite floor, walls and full fiberglass roof. All foam insulation and insulated windows. They have giant panoramic picture windows in the front. With only 70 made they can be tough to come by and that keeps the used price up.

They didn't sell well. Trying to sell a TT with a list of 90K during a recession was not a success so FR stopped production at 70. Made two models, the Electra and the larger 34ft Wright-flyer. A third model even bigger model was in the works but never produced.
