2015 FR3 30ds King Bed

We love our FR3 30DS except we hate the way I have to get out of the king bed. The way it is installed there is a wooden peice covered with carpet next to the bed and under tne back window. This keeps the person who sleeps on the left side from being able to get out of bed without scooting to the foot of the bed. What is under this large piece? Can it be Modified so an exit on the left side is possible? Or can a queen bed replace the king and thus give more room on the left side? I am 65 years old and don't scoot as well as I use to.

That block and step down is the same in my 2014 queen bed. I'm pretty sure it's the storage bin below. And the wood is part of the slide. Personally I would not try cutting it out as it would lead to a open spot into the rear pass thru storage. Requiring further modification and a reduction in storage space. I'm 67 and I don't scoot well any longer either. But, I can crawl on my knees ok. So, I put some padding in the area that's level with the mattress and am able to crawl into and out of bed much easier.

I have seen that design in other RV and didn't care for it either. I know this suggestion is a long shot but would sleeping with your feet at the head of the bed be an option?
