2015 FR3 30DS over cab bunk
Just picked up our Jenny (we named our FR3 Jenny because it's a "Forest" River, and in the movie Forest Gump, Jenny was Forests girl) on the drive home from the dealership the cab over bunk that is held up by magnets kept falling down. When I test drove it this didn't happen. We noticed at the test drive the magnets were loose, not mounted tight, so we asked about that. During prep the dealer did tighten up the magnets. Is this now the reason why the bunk keeps falling? Thank You for reading this and taking the time.

Bunk
The magnets should be loose which allows for the bouncing you get when you go over bumps.

Make sure you don't have anything "bulky" stored up there. On my 2014 I can get a blanket laid out, but that's about it.

Awesome! That's what I figured, the magnets should have not been tightened. Just the same I'm thinking of either using 1+" pvc or a 1+" dowel rod, with cane bumpers on both ends cut to the exact length, to wedge between the metal on the bottom of the bunk and the top of the metal landing pad that the bunk rest on when in the full down position on both sides while traveling. Let that carry the load rather than the magnets pulling full duty. What say anyone on that idea.?

Never had mine come loose once using the manufacture's pivoting magnets and I travel many miles of rough roads.

I purchased a 2015 Fr3 and when I got it home I noticed the bunk hinge was rusty. The hinge is being replaced as we speak

According to my sister in Florida who has a 2014, the magnets are super tight. She mentioned it to the dealer and they told her they have to be or the bed would fall. She had to pull hard on the to loosen before she uses the switch. When putting back up you can hear them clip back tightly. She said call and the the dealer fix, no results call FR

My magnets are tight also. Every once in a while they'll pop off, but, not too often to worry about.

I've loosened my magnets, but I have also with Extreme Percision made 2 support sticks using 1 1/4" dole rod and Kane bumpers to help support the bunk when in the full up position. This way the magnets don't have to carry the full load.

I also had my dealer tighten the loose magnets and the bed disconnected all the time. When they spoke with Forest River the magnets where designed to wobble. When they loosened them back up I've never had a problem again, including rough desert off-road travel.
