2016 32DS CHF FIX, Wow!

Where have you been for the last year. Finally broke down and did the CHF (Cheap Handling Fix) on the front end only. Took about 20 minuts. Wow, big difference. Play is gone from stearing wheel, more responsive and steady.

Wandering how much difference doing rear CHF will make as well?

Thanks

Doing mine next week and adding a SafeTPlus stabilizer too. I'm told the difference will be incredible.

I added the SafeTPlus when I first purchased my RV, though am wandering if I should not have bought the TruCenter which allows you to reset the center position from inside the cab.

When I am towing my center alignment gets knocked off kilter for some reason, though, it is always a little off anyways because the SafeTPlus takes a few tries to get it to center.

But.... One thing I have not done and many people recommend it, especially after a CHF, is a wheel alignment. I am going to take my RV and get the wheel alignment now that I have the CHF and then reset my safetplus.

The SafeTPlus made a big different in handling, the CHF brought it all together to make a great ride. I added the SafeTPlus not for steering control but in case of a blowout, but it definitely improved steering.

It's the "Cheap Handling Fix." Search the forum...there are a bunch of threads on it. Basically it is moving the swaybar bolt from one hole to another to slightly change the geometry on the swaybars, front and rear.

I added the Roadmaster steering stabilizer and did the CHF to my 2017 FR3-30DS.. What a difference !!... We're planning a Florida trip next month, and depending on how the unit handles, I may consider the rear stabilizer and Bilstein shocks.

I have the Safe-T-Plus and it helps with crosswinds and passing trucks, but doesn't help with RV drift. Hopefully the CHF will help that. There is so much play in the steering now.

IMHO, CHF should be the first stop before spending money on aftermarket solutions.

Mine is older, but the newer chassis are almost identical. here is a brief explanation on how to do it, and what it does.

Cheap Handling Fix – and then some | 2001 Coachmen Mirada 300QB

NOTE - If your chassis is newer than about 2006, keep an eye on the rear torsion bar bolts and brackets, They have a habit of falling off and breaking.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

Agree. The CHF is the best mod to make the F53 Ford frame motor down the road. Also insure the rear seat bar is even hooked up. The over paid bozo's at ford didn't even have my rear sway bar hooked up. Anyway make sure the sway bars are hooked up, do the CHF and the FR3-30DS will smoothly with one hand on the wheel roll along just fine.

Rear SWAY bar. Not Seat bar. Sorry for typo.
