Sometime after 2014 FR read the forum and heard us complain and they started adding the pre wires for the fan.

Sadly mine did not have it so I tapped into the lights. This means I have to have the masted lights with on for the fan to work.

Same here in our 2014 for adding the fan in the kitchen area and bathroom. Fortunately, after some thought, when I added the bedroom fan I was able to run wiring from the fan down the wall by the switch and spliced into the light switch wires before the switch giving me the 12V without turning on the light.
