2018 29 DS -- Cheap Handling Fix

done today. what a huge PIA!

lessons:

install the washers correctly the first time and will save a lot of rear end pain.

take off both bolts. once out, i had to use a jack to raise the sway bar. then realized i had the washers incorrectly installed on one of the bars -- after putting it in and tightening to correct torque. and oh by the way, i used red loctite to secure. finally got it released -- but now the new strain on the sway bar had it too high. had to position the jack to move the sway bar down to align the holes. HUGE pain. on your back, tight spaces. after much struggle and several jack placements, finally got one screw back in (correctly). then on to the other side. sway bar was still to high -- had to again use jack to push the sway bar down to align the holes. all this done in south Florida, 90 degrees and 90 percent humidity. i am getting too old for this.

BUT -- huge difference. immediate difference. i have a rear sway, steering stabilizer, and CHF. have never driven an RV before, but these three make it way "easier" -- but still a learning cure -- to drive.

If you just loosened up the axle mount bolts you could have moved the sway bar by hand...



I just did mine last Friday as well front and back. Took me about an hour since I couldn't find the right socket sizes.

Who ever put mine in was a beast. I could not budge them.

Second posting.
Well, I finally broke down and performed both front and rear CHF on my 2016 FR3 30DS. Let me just say that I am adding a big "WOW" to this thread. The difference is amazing. I've been traveling a number of narrow two-lane roads and handling has been somewhat stressful. Today I was able to drive the same roads with little to no sway. Definitely more enjoyable! Headed to Desoto Falls State Park next week, so we'll see how it does on the open road. Many thanks to all of those that contributed to and shared their experience in bringing this awesome "fix" to everyone's attention.
