30DS DIY Oil Change

Does anyone know what kind of oil and filter are needed for the 2015 30DS? Tired of taking it to the dealer to do.

Also, any tips/tricks on how it differs from a car would be great!

Thanks!

Mobil 1 5w/30 Oil (7 qts) and Ford fl-820s Filter.
Easy to do, just crawl under and you will see the filter and oil drain on the drivers side.
BTW, the oil spills all over since the drain is right above the front axle and runs right onto it. Lots of rags..
Filling is a bit tricky since the oil fill is right in front of the engine but up high so it's hard to get a funnel up there and still be able to pour the oil. I end up not using a funnel and just use the MB1 quart bottles and pour slowly.

Replace your oil pan drain plug when you change your oil with one of these. You just attach a plyable tube, turn a quarter turn and drain. No spilling out all over your axle.Click image for larger version

I always use this funnel. Its easier for the RV and the Generator. It filters oil and has measurements. You can get it on Amazon.

Not sure what your dealer is charging you but I just paid $57.00 at the Ford dealer.

Yeah, I hear you LDStaas. It is convenient and you don't have to worry about oil disposal. My biggest complaint is that my Ford dealer takes forever just to get me in. They always say that they haven't any space for another RV so when I make the appointment it's a month out for a 20 min job. The issue isn't always cost but also how long do you want to wait? I prefer that they do it. Work fascinates me. I can watch it all day long.

In North Carolina, all the auto parts places accept oil for recycling. I'm pretty sure that's a statutory requirement. They never ask for a receipt or proof you bought the new oil from them, although I usually take the used oil to the same place that sold the new oil.

The Fumoto drain plug will be your best friend after you do an oil change without it! FYI, I have an extra that I will be giving away at the Goshen rally if you’re attending.

My 2003 F150 also uses the Motorcraft FL820S !!!
