30DS Hot Water Heater
My hot water heats up then after using it doesn't keep the hot water hot. I might have a bad thermostat . Anyone have this problem ?

By pass valves turned incorrectly?
Does it seem like it's hot again if you don't use it for awhile?
Does it go from hot to Luke warm to cold pretty fast?

The hot water will be warm when I return to the coach . If I run the water for a while the water will stay warm until the heater comes on again. It seems the thermostat don't kick on as the water cools down

I'm having a similar concern. Water doesn't stay hot for the length of a quick camping shower.

Are your bypass valves turned correctly?

Good question. Where are the bypass valves located.

I timed my hot water run out time in the shower. I get 5-6 minutes of hot water using a mix and then completely closing the cold water valve for the last 2 minutes. Much longer if I shut the shower head off between rinsing.

On an FR3 there is no acess behind the water heater. Should lbe below near the fresh water tank. At least on my 25DS.

Ok so I found the bypass and this is the factory position, meaning I have not turned anything. Is this the fresh water fill? If I connect to the city water do I turn the valve left or right?

Is the temperature for the hot water tank adjustable?

In most if not all cases, no.

The Pic you show is for the RV pump suction side! One is for H2o the other way is for Anti-freeze! Youroo!! Keep looking for the B/pass valves!

Not sure these will help. Before I winterized my coach this fall I took "before" picks of the valve positions prior to bypassing the water heater and removing the anode and turning the valve to suck the pink antifreeze up in the white tube. Assuming it's a 30ds this is what the in season valve positions should look like. This is the view after you have removed the "nuisance" panel used to help insulate the system.

One other thing to check are your shower hand wands.
If someone has forgotten to shut off the faucet valves in the shower (OUTSIDE TOO) and just closed the button on the wand when they finished their shower, cold water will mix with the hot water inside the valve body reducing the temperature of the water at the point of use.

On our first time out in our 2015 FR3 30DS. Turned on the hot water heater but it seems to be powered only with propane. Am I missing something? I expected to be able to switch between propane and electricity like my previous camper.

If you have the Suburban water heater, your electric switch may be on the face of the water heater. This may help:

Thanks so much for this info! We have now located the electric switch inside the water heater! My propane will be spared! :-)
