7 Way Towing Plug lost power.

2016 FR3 30DS , we've been towing a Honda Fit for several years and on our last trip the toad turn signals and brake lights would not come on for the trip home, so we just drove the car home separately.

Decided to clean the contacts, starting with the motorhome male plug first. I did an initial test with my 12v tester and had power and turn signals, but no brake. I disconnected the negative cable from the engine , used CRC contact cleaner on the plug blades. I reconnected the negative cable to the battery and now the plug has no power! All i did was disconnect the battery cable, spray contact cleaner and reconnect the battery, i disassembled nothing.

Have already checked fuses and relay, nothing seems tripped.

what gives??

First thought would be another ground wire that has intermittent to no contact. Have you check the wiring in the plug and chased the wiring from it?

Yup, sounds like a corroded ground wire, most likely where it attaches to the vehicle frame.
