A/C Problem

Having water leaking from the unit inside. I removed the inside cover an the water is running down the inside where the fan blade seems to be hitting it an spaying water out of the vent cover. Removed the cover on the roof an could not see any issues, other than some water buildup in a couple areas but I think what I saw was normal. Had two water trails on each side of the unit up on the roof but thats just normal run off I believe. Anybody have any ideas what I can check without having to drive back to the dealers? The water is coming into the unit fairly heavy while the unit is running day or nite.

That's typically plugged up drains on the roof. IIRC, they're just rails with drain holes on the outsides.

Thanks for the reply. Talked to a rv a/c man today an he said to check the 4 mounting bolts from the inside to see if they are tight, if so then the problem is the gasket is causing the leak problem. This thurs. nite I shall see.

I've had my main Dometic a/c unit replaced three times in two years. This last replacement we had a water leak. The four adjusting bolts weren't tight enough against the heavy gasket. We tightened them and leak went away.

I have a gasket still in the box if you need it. I don't plan to use it anytime soon, so you can have it.

Got busy an forgot to reply back. Ran the unit for 1:55 min an no water issues, can't understand. Tightened the 4 mounting bolts a little but I don't think that was my issue, the water is running down the fan blade shoot, has to be condensate problem I believe. Its one of these crazy issues we rv owners get from time to time.

Every now and then we'll get some water dripping out of our Dometic 15k unit. And typically its when its fairly warm and humid. We just crack open the cold blast vent for a little until the unit is cooled down a bit, then run it through the ducts. Anyways, hope it goes away for good.

If it is a Dometic unit, Here are the specs for tightening the bolts. 40-50 in/lbs
