A Cry for help!

I am presently 3500 miles away from home in BC, Canada. On this trip I have had to make numerous visits to RV "repair centers" to have multiple problems fixed. The current one seems to be unsolvable at the local level.

The sofa slide will NOT go out. I had a technician from a local company look at it and it seems to be the motor that drives the cables. Luckily, I was able to bring the slide in.

I need some advice on how to get it fixed. I have called Forest River and have left multiple messages about the situation and hoped they could lead me in the right direction. There are apparently no Forest River dealers in this part of Canada, from my research, so I was hoping they could tell me the nearest one. I am even willing to drive to the Forest River Factory to get it fixed and will of course pay for it.

So, if you've experienced something similar, please let me know your solution. My wife and 10 year old granddaughter are bummed out about how this is messing up our trip of a lifetime. We had to cancel last year because during the 1 year warranty, the unit was in for repairs over 5 months.

I thanked Fonzie, but I would prefer a location on my way back East because of time constraints. I am presently in Williams Lake heading to Stuie and then back home. Have to get the grandkid back in time for school.

You are not clear as to the problem.
Does the motor spin and gears grind? Or no motor at all? If it's only the motor you can operate the slide from back of motor with flexible cable that came with rv and a cordless drill.

If it's the more common broken teeth on gears you might be able to push it in and out while operating the motor. Did you check fuses and circuit breakers. Also I think key has to be in off position.

The accuslide post 2 posts prior has link to manual. Also other rv brands use accuslide so their shop should be able to fix. You can also order the gear motor combo from eBay and have it shipped to where you are going to be in 2 days.

Norco Industries two year limited warranty of the ACCU-SLIDE

Expandable Room System commences upon delivery of unit to end

user. The limited warranty includes all components, metal brackets,

pulleys, cables and end connectors, aluminum extrusions, gear motor,

and chain from manufacturing defects and workmanship.

The system is not warranted against water passage, customer

abuse or improper installation. It is the responsibility of the final stage

manufacturer to ensure the ACCU-SLIDE system is properly installed,

adjusted, and sealed to prevent water passage in both the opened and

closed positions of the room.

It's definitely the motor gear. The tech confirmed that. There is no cable that I'm aware of.

Tech and I tried pushing out while grinding gears. No luck. It's not a fuse issue. The motor grinds.

Unfortunately, rig is no longer under warranty. It's my experience that FR doesn't know you exist after the warranty expires. Thanks.

Okay so Forest River doesn't warranty it, but what I see in the manual is Norco warranty is 2 years.

Welcome - I would still call them. They can't say no of you don't ask

Also, your experience may be a bit dated - you do realize that Forest River fixes issues for FREE for people attending the FROG Rally in Goshen? Their corporate culture has become very customer focused under the leadership of Pete Ligel.

Besides, you DID say you would be willing to drive to the FR Factory and pay for the repairs, which is why I gave you the Factory POCs. I agree with you, I would rather go to the factory than some random dealer out there for my repairs.
