Are fr3's a good motorhome?
I will be in the market in a year for my first motorhome and the FR3 30DS caught my eye.
Originally I was interested in the 3011 Sun seeker with the power recliners but was told the FR3 would be a better fit for a single person.
I've never driven a motorhome before so I wouldn't know if it drives good or not. I just like the floorplan.
All input welcome!

I worried about the GVWR of an E450 chassis frame. I made the chart below a few years ago as part of my research.

When I am ready to buy one I will try a few out. For now I'm just doing the research. I was hoping to hear from those that have driven different class A motorhomes that have driven a FR3.
I am really leaning towards the FR3 30 because of the floorplan.
I really like how it has the sofa, then the dinette, then the bedroom.
Its almost identical to the 3011 sunseeker that is a class C.
I just dont know if I want to drive a class A when I can drive a class C that is about the same inside.

One reason we chose the Class A is due to the ease of getting out of the front seats and into the back. We have a 2015 FR3 30DS and love it. Although, we are now ready to upgrade to a larger unit.
Test drive both a Class A and Class C, and make sure you get in and out of the front seats a few times.

FR3
Purchased a 2015 FR3 in August. Love it so far. Nice and spacious with a king bed too! Easy to drive and very easy to set up. Only complaint so far is outside mirrors are manual not electric.

We are OK wit( our 2017 FR3 28ds. Did some upgrades to help with handling. Lots on forum about this. Would have to say they are probably as good as any in the price range you are paying. You will definitely find better motorhomes if you are willing to pay. We owned a class C and definitely prefer the classA.
Love the kingsize bed and the floor plan. Are we satisfied with our FR3? I would say yes.

We have a 2014 and have truly enjoyed it! I agree with you on the floor plan. Ours has a closet on the left as you enter, which is not available on the newer models. Some owners use that as an extra pantry, but I installed some hooks, so we can use it as a coat closet plus we have a shoe hanger on the inside of the door.

We have a 2015 30DS, we like it very much. It is comfortable, has decent features, and is a good performing motorhome. I would recommend the X Package to get 2 AC units and 50 Amp service.

Test drive is a must. I test drive two FR3's and one Forester. I bought a Forester without the overhang over the cab. Only you can be the judge of what fits you best.

Great chart Robert. Thanks for sharing. We are contemplating a change from TT to either the FR3 or a Class C. This will help in decision making.

Was the test drive the reason you picked the Forester (class C) over the FR3 (class A)?

Absolutely. Actually, 2 Foresters drove great with no add-ones and no modifications. 4 years later, I still enjoy driving it. I must admit, I always wanted a A. Planning on moving to an upper level A gasser this summer. I think I will miss the Forester somewhat. We will see.

When I was ready to buy a camper, I thought I was ready. I had never tried a class "A" before so I didn't know better. I bought a brand new class "C" and about 4 months later I regreated it. Because of the overhand sleeping bed on top of our heads we could not look at the beautiful sights we were passing through. There was no way to look up. As we were traveling, and regreating our purchase, we came apon a FR3-25 DS. It was perfect!!! Not too big and the front windshield was amazing. We traded our brand new class "C" for this FR3 and never regreated it. We are sitting higher so we can see what others are missing and the wide windshile gives us a much more panaramic view of everything. If you're not decided, take my advice nad test drive eceryone you think might be a good buy...especialy the FR3. You won't regret it.

Thanks everyone for the input. I am still on the fence and will ask a slightly different question on the general MH forum. It will be regarding what is prefered the class C 3011DS vs the FR3 30DS.
