Automatic stairs not lowering

The automatic stairs on my 2014 FR3 30 DS will not come down. Is there a recall on them?

From what I remember, I think they are wired directly to your coach batteries. Check the inline fuse.

The steps power switch position has no affect on whether steps extend or not (only used for retracting/not retracting with engine off). The controlling factor is the door switch (on the door jamb) actuated by a magnet on the screen door. if you have Kwikee steps (I believe you do) that door switch must open when the door is opened (the magnet on the door is not adjacent to the switch). As said the power fuse is an inline 25amp directly from the coach battery.

The steps has an amber light that will come on for a short time when the steps extend. If that light is coming on for you then the door switch is working OK. The light is underneath on the steps mounting frame. Good luck.

Wiring

I had this issue last year. The way the installer ran the wire it got pinched by the folding part of the steps until it finally cut the wire. The fix was easy by rerouting the wire.
