awning on 2014 fr3 30 footer

My electric awning works like a champ, but one problem: When it is extended, there is very little slope from coach to out side edge. As a result if sun is setting on that side you get very little shade at all even in the very early afternoon. Looks like there should be some adjustment to get the out side edge to come down lower- as it is, it is very high from the ground upwards. Have been told this is just the way it is with the newer electric awnings and will have to live with it. Any Suggestions??

Awning adjustment

I have a 2015 30DS with a Dometic electric awning. I can lower the outer edge if I untighten the black nob on the bottom of each extended arm of the awning. I push each arm back towards the coach until I achieve the down angle I need and retighten each black knob. I can have it angled to allow the water to run off from front to back or back to front if needed. I untighten each knob and the awning returns to its full upright position. You may need a ladder to reach the knobs.

And/or, you can buy a mesh sun screen from CW and slide it easily into awning groove. Takes out 75% of sun issues. Some folks even have the extensions added by vendors around rallies which takes the sun screen almost to the ground and blocks 100% of the sun. Go on line and check out whats available. Maybe? Even a U Tube search will help you out. I have the 1/2 screen. Will be changing to full as soon as I am at a rally with someone who does the modification. I am sure there are folks on this forum who have same.

Search for Vista shade from

They offer complete awning shades that have the short insert with a zip on extension. As soon as I can move the coach to measure the distance from open roller to the ground I plan on purchasing one. The short piece stays on the awning all the time and rolls up with it.
