Bed remodel on 29DS

Has anyone remodeled the bed in the 29DS. I love my king, but need room to get in and out. Is it possible to change it to 2 twins or fulls? I want the room to get out of bed and go to the bathroom without a Cirq d Soleil routine
If anyone has any suggestions or pictures could you please share. Thanks

Here is the only thread I found. Not too helpful. It is something we all wish was a feature of the FR3. Hope others find more helpful responses.

I believe the king beds are full length. So that makes them difficult to walk around the end of the mattress.

So look around locally for a small family owned mattress company. Ask them if they will disassemble the mattress cut the springs to make it shorter and modify the border and top & bottom panels & re sew it.

The re sewing of the mattress is done by removing the binding tape, This is the webbing that holds the top or bottom to the border of the mattress. Once the binding tape is removed and the mattress is opened up, The springs on one end can be cut to make the mattress shorter. Next the top and bottom panels on that end can be cut shorter. The border will also be cut shorter to fit the new smaller circumference of the mattress.
Then they only need to put it on a machine they will have called a Tape Edge Machine and sew the top and bottom panels to the border.
This sewing process does not take a long time to do. The most work involved will be cutting the panels and the inner springs.

It will or at least should be much cheaper to modify your existing mattress than buying a new custom made shorter mattress

If you only need the corner of the mattress modified to be able to more easily walk around the mattress, the corner could be modified the very same way as I described in my 1st reply.

This would be even easier that modifying the whole end of the mattress. It should be much cheaper to only modify a corner of the mattress. Let me know if you have any questions.

Bed remodel

Have a 2017 32DS, had no room with king matt. measured base and had mattress made to fit base. Gave us about 7 inches at end of bed, now we can get in wardrobe drawers without sitting down on mattress. not sure why with so little room Forest River would put in king matt.
