Bike Rack

Hello! We want to take our bikes along and so I'm asking for some opinions on bike racks!

You are going to need to provide little more detail as to what you are looking for.
How many bikes
How heavy?
etc.

Just put "bike rack" into the search field at the top of the page and you will about a months worth of threads to read. There is lots of debate regarding racks and where to put them and how to attach them. Choices include (assuming you have a TT or 5ver):
  • Inside
  • Rear (bumper** or beefed up receiver)
  • A-frame
  • Ladder rack
  • In TV pickup bed
  • Above TV pickup bed
  • Front hitch on TV

You will get tons of opinions.

Below is one link to get you started. Post #2 is the beefed up receiver on my Roo 19 and Post #12 is the beefed up receiver on my Mini Lite.

Installing a hitch on my roo.

**Do NOT simply bolt a receiver to your bumper; it won't handle it. The Safety Struts seem to be OK based on users reports.

Many bike racks specifically say "not for RV use" although Swagman makes some. That being said, I have a Thule 990XT which says not for RV use, but I've been using it for over 7 years with no issues. Two Diamondbacks on it.

I'm assuming that the OP has a FR3 Motorhome, since she posted it in the Motorhome section of the Forum.
So pickup bed and A-frame suggestions are not applicable.
IF they're pulling a toad, that's where I'd put the bike rack on.
I'm a fan of Yakima and Thule but they are expensive. A Swagman would be cheaper and they make a good product.

I always forget to look at the thread name up there. Need to make it larger.
