I agree; the two solutions are for different purposes. My primary concern was to stop objects that would potentially damage the radiator or the transmission cooler and not restrict airflow at all. That's what the screen is for and not for bugs. The screen allows unrestricted airflow and temperatures have not been affected in the least. There would be no basis for denying or voiding warranty. Large bugs are actually caught by the screen and the smaller ones are easily washed off the radiator and do not cause damage (based on two pretty good trips I've made) It's interesting to note that both the FR3 and Thor ACE model, using the same Ford F53 chassis, have similar grills with the wide-openings because of Ford's requirements so I would be wary a finer mesh. I hope those solutions work and look forward to seeing some reports from them after making some summer trips in heat.

I paid $100.00 for the screen...no taxes. I enquired and to ship it via courier...it is $25.00.

I have taken the M.H. for a ride, watching the gauges..all is good. The snaps are screwed in the grill (small screws). It was very easy to install.
