Bunk over cab used as storage?

I really like the FR3 30DS but one of the things that is keeping me from buying one is the lack of interior storage. Does anyone use the bunk over cab as a storage bay? If so, how does it affect driving?
The type of storage I think it needs is a place to put dry food.
If you compare it to the Sunseeker 3010DS it has less than half as much storage in the dining area.

When I first started RVing I thought I needed to store tons of supplies but realized after a short time that all I was doing was storing things. My use was mainly weekends with once and a while extended trip. By only taking and storing what I need for the trip I keep my supplies fresh and don't need lots of storage if I find I need something I stop at a store. If a person is full timing that may be a different matter. JMHO

I have the 25DS and it is even more starved for storage space. We placed a couple of cut 2x4 on edge on the metal lip that catches the bunk to raise it up a few more inches and then put sterilite 3 drawers x 3 drawers for 9 additional drawers with additional storage behind them. Just the wife and i so we dont need the bunk but do need the storage.
