Bunk safety net

Our grandkids want to sleep in the overhead bunk but I'm afraid of them rolling out and getting hurt. Does anyone know of a solution such as a safety net that would fit across? I've seen these in other manufacturers like Sunseeker. Our FR3 didn't even come with a ladder to get up in the bunk but our dealer ordered one for us. I need to come up with something to make it a safe place for the kids to sleep! Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I've been working on this also, tried a few RV parts stores with no luck. Heard some use pool noodles but I wasn't too comfortable with that (fairly big drop in our FR3). Found a metal shower curtain rod with rubber ends that extends up to 86 inches - need 83 inches wall to wall. The rod is a self tension type where you twist it and it locks up against the walls rather than using mounting brackets. My thinking is we just need something to stop them rolling off the bed while sleeping, so It looks like it should be sturdy enough. It also collapses down to about 4 ft so I'll just place it on the base of the bunk when not in use. My grand kids are ages 8, 10, and 14. I'll let you know how it works as we are camping with a couple of them in little over a week.

here are some ideas I have seen. I have seen some make their own wood ones and attach them the the side of the bunk as well.

When our kids were young we used a mattress side guard that we got at a kids store. The arms go under the mattress & the side guard keeps them in. Folds flat for storage. No installation other than arms slide under the mattress. Our camper has a loft bed so we are going to look for another one for our grandson.

They call them in the search baby rails but I would not trust them for a baby even at home more for toddlers plus. Looks like they come in several sizes & colors.

I have 2 Young grandkids and I've installed the bedrail from Wall-Mart. work great, inexpensive and slides on top of the bed when traveling.

We have 3 grandchildren (ages 5, 7, 9) that just camped with us a week ago in our 2015 FR3 30DS. I used a cargo net from Amazon (Bell Automotive 22-1-33653-8 Cargo Net) and a brass chain from Lowes. I attached one long side of the net under the mattress using screws and fender washers. I wove the chain through the other long side of the net and used "s" hooks to anchor the net to the chain. I then attached the chain to heavy duty screw hooks on each end of the bunk bed area. The chain simply slips on the hooks when in use. When getting in or out of the bunk or for storage, unhook the chain and slide the net and chain under the mattress. It worked really well.

Mount a U shaped socket on each wall and insert a 1" x 4" across the entire length.

That's why I suggested the 1x4. Might even use 2. They would sure be easy to store under the mattress.

Check out the net on the Coachmen Pursuit motorhomes. It goes around both the side and the front of the bunk. It then has a panel that clips up across the front. Looks just like a pack and play when up. The Pursuit also came with a ladder for the bunk, just stored outside in the right front compartment.
