Honestly I can't say that this was the brightest idea. Putting the connections for the sat box behind the 32" tv? Hello, can't change the channel without lifting the tv first. Am I missing something here??
I have my Sat box sitting on a 1.5" piece of foam rubber which allows the ir senser to align perfectly with the small crack in the metal. Also put the box off to the left side slightly because the middle is solid metal. Play around with it a little and you will see you can make it work, won't be perfect but works.

From an electronics repair technician's view point, placing the satellite receiver on its side may cause it to overheat. To properly dissipate the internal heat generated, the receiver should be mounted in the horizontal position.
This is how I did it. Mounted under the cabinet.
It's The smaller VIP Dish box connected to an in motion dome and an external off air adapter to pick up locals.
The box has an external USB hard drive attached that sits up in the cabinet.
Also have an hdmi three way splitter that connects to the outside, bunk and bedroom TV.
If you want to spend the extra bucks I have a great solution. I swapped the original 32" TV which came with the FR3 with a 42" Samsung, ( no need to change brackets or anything) this TV has an IR reader which goes in the back of the TV, allowing to set up the Samsung smart controller as universal controller and control the receiver + DVDs + whatever else you want.
Hope this helps.
The Sat box should have an IR Remote port on the back, you just plug one of these guys into it and fish the receiver end to wherever you want. Personally, I would velcro the Sat box in the cubby hole above the closet (if it fits) so it is next to the power antenna switch and everything is together.
