Canadians will freeze in a FR3

I now understand these FR3 are not dual pane glass and the floors are not insulated. But jeepers what is going on with the furnace?. It cant heat the darn motorhome... We are at plus 2 degrees. Two hours with the furnace on 31 degrees.. We have to keep the bathroom door open to get a little heat... So if the air.conditioner is no good in the summer and the heater is no good in the spring or fall... We just purchased a glorified cardboard box it seems

I've notice some of the complaints about the furnance, but we've just picked up our 2015 30DS and it got down to 40F at night in Colorado and we were toasty all night. Heat was blowing out pretty good at all the vents. One in the bedroom, one in the bathroom and two I believe in the kitchen/stairwell. I wonder what's going on....

As a Canadian, I can safely say, yes...FR3 is poorly insulated. Next cold night, try opening one of the closets on the bedroom ...Buurrrrrr!

Is you ducting connected to the furnace. I found 2 of 3 disconnected however, I have never used the furnace other than to test it. Besides, Canadians will not freeze as they all come to florida when the snow falls.

If your furnace is blowing cold air you could have an air lock in your gas line. This happened to us last winter after we topped off the propane tank. You should run all of your appliances on gas (stove, fridge, etc) for a bit to see if it clears out. Also, cycle your furnace on for a few minutes than off for a few. This worked for us. The furnace should be putting out warm air or there is something wrong. We used it at 28 degrees F outside and were fine.

I've been out in the low 30s in our 2014 FR3 without any problems with heat. Something is amiss with your coach if your coach can't warm you up. If it's new I wouldn't mess around - take it to the dealer while it's under warranty. If not under warranty call Forest River and complain. They might hook you up with a free service call to figure it out.

I would run a supplemental heater until I got it figured out.

We use ours often. When temps are above 32 it almost a staple. However the moisture build up requires a dehumidifier. Good luck!! Stay camping my friend...

I notice some Motorhomes have dual A/C units on the roof - presumably for hot climates. Would it be possible to install dual heaters since you live in a colder environment?

It might just be asking too much of a single heater.

Vin.

Canadians Freezing

Hey, never mind the Canucks, how about the Yankees in N. Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan etc. The ice storms don't stop at the border. LOL

We use a small electric heater to suplement the furnace or when we don't want to run on propane constantly and it helps a lot. Our furnace on our Sureveyor is fine though at any temporature even in early April in the North Okanagan of BC. No vent in the bathroom does make you want to keep the door open at times though.

They and their money are welcome! We Floridians pay sales tax and have no income tax. [emoji6]
