Extended Warranty - Is it worth it?

I purchased an easy care extended warranty for 2250 with a 250 dollar deductable that covers it for an extra 5 years. I read the disclosure and I can get a refund on it if I choose within the first 30 days. Is it worth it?

That depends on if something breaks that cost 2500 in the next 6 years, then you will know its worth it, if you are one of the lucky few that nothing happens to break in the next 6 years then you will think you wasted your money. It all comes down to your piece of mind.

I guess I was more interested in everyone's best guess as to whether it was worth it or not.

On average it ain't worth it...since it is sold to make a profit! Question is...are you feeling lucky or above average?
Seriously... I've been investigating them myself and found some major differences between what policies cover and exclude...so it is more of an individualized question than..."Are extended service contracts worth it?" Just as an example...I was offered a policy by my dealer that was $2k less than my GoodSam quote...but when I went home and analyzed what would and would not be covered...I still felt the Good Sam was the better value.
That said...what I cannot get past is that none of them seem to cover the actual structure of the motorhome at all...no roof, no sides, no floor, no frame. This after they try to scare you with talk of a motorhome being a house that goes through the equivilent of hurricane force winds and earthquakes and needs to be covered!! Except the house ain't covered!!

So...my decision at present is to pass on all of them. If anyone knows of a policy that DOES cover the house... please pass it on. In the meantime...I'll just go with the Ford chassis warranty and the various component warranties and hope the odds remain in my favor. If I were buying a used coach, I'd probably go for one.

We passed on the dealer extended warranty but purchased the forest river 2nd year warranty for $150. You have 10 days from date of rv purchase to mail in the registration and check for this.

It's sad that most of us learned of this warranty after those 10 days were up. My dealer never mentioned it to me.

We've been camping for 42 years and 9 different travel trailers. I have never had any extended coverage with the exception of my Sunline which had onw exrta year free. We have never had any trouble that would have needed to be covered by an extended warranty. Over the years we probably saved probably $15 to 20K b not purchasing warranties and probably had about 2K in repairs and that included 1200.00 fixing all the water leaks in my Holiday Rambler Savoy.

My dealer didn't either and acted like he was unaware of the extra warranty and the 1yr coachnet. I found out about the FR extended warranty here. Do I need to something for the one year free coachnet we get with this rig?

This the biggest problem with my dealer they were more interested in sell a extended warranty than telling me about the 2 year warranty I could get from FR I would have gotten the 1 year extended for the low price. I have never bought an extended warranty on anything. Just not worth the money they have already figured out how long most things will last and that is just past the extened warranty time.

How do you go about getting the 1 year extended for $150? Do you need to buy it thru the dealer or go the FR directly?
