Extending the back of Kitchen drawers (Modification)

I measured our kitchen drawers. They 18" long but it is 28" to the back of the cabinet. I have some 28" slides I am going to install, but I may have to remove the stove to get to the back. The other side is the dinette bench.

Has anyone found a way to use that wasted unused space?

The Green is the current drawer outline. The Red is the wasted space where the drawer will be extended. (Not to scale)

I extended a drawer a few inches to accomodiate a silverware tray. Didn’t change slides.
If you do change slides make sure to use RV slides that prevent drawer from opening during travel.

Cabinet drawer modifications

Yes.

I reused the drawer faces but remade all of the, butt jointed and stapled, construction grade plywood, drawers in our 2016 2304KS.

Using 1/2" Baltic Birch ply and using a router table with a drawer jointing router bit, I manufactured quality drawer boxes. All of them were made to the maximum depth that I could achieve. The 2 drawers next to the bed, for example, were 17" deep I made the replacements 26" deep. I also replaced the tip out in front of the sink with a usable 7"deep drawer.
I also created a 16" wide X 10" deep drawer, which I installed in place of the blank panel to the left of the cook top.
I also created a cabinet space in the blank panel above the refridgerator. We had one in our previous trailer, so I figured (fortunately correctly) that the space behind the panel was empty. Great storage for bread and munchies.

The drawers that came in our 2015 Georgetown 270SSF were so painfully short that a spatula had to be crosswise. We got longer slides and my handy sister-in-law used her biscuit cutter to make deeper drawers. See the difference: the cramped old drawer is on top. We could have made them even deeper but did not need the space.
