Exterior protective coating.

I have a new 30DS. The dealer offered to apply a exterior protective coating for $1,100.00 that seems to be a very high cost. Has any one had any experience with these coatings?

My dealer started at around $1100, I said no, by time PDI was finished they were down to $600, so I went for it. All in all, seems like a cash grab. I think a good waxing is every bit as good if not better....they simply soak it with this solution and let it air dry....could be water for all I know!

Next time I would stick to my guns and not do it....during the whole pdi, the guy doing the pdi was more interested in selling the coating than doing the pdi...left a sour taste in my mouth.

I didn't buy it from the dealer, figuring I could find a source on my own. But I'm wondering if it really protects anything

You can find detailers that will do a good protective coating in your area online and for less than what the dealer will charge you.

I use Klasse, acrylic based protectant. It has been around since 70's. Get the polish and sealant for about $70.00 will last for years. Took me about 6 hours to do by myself. Looks spectacular!!
