Fall color trip to Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg
We are leaving October 20th for Pigeon Forge. We will be staying at Riverside RV Resort and leaving the area on the 25th. We plan on going to the craft shows and other events in the area. The main reason we're going is to see the colors in the mountains if anybody has a chance to come down let us know we can maybe all get together down at the Riverside RV Resort.

You are in for a treat...did that last year, except not with the RV, but the fall colors are stunning! I heard the colors seem to be peaking about a week or so earlier than normal, hopefully your timing is good, but we were mesmerized by the beauty.

We are about 100 miles NE of the area, also in the mountains and they are just now beginning to show some color, so they should be at peak in about 2 weeks, maybe 2 1/2. Your timing may be really close to peak.

I was just there on the weekend...and it is a total ZOO....took 2 hours to go from pigeon forge to gatlinburg. We stayed at RiverBend in PF which we liked. Suggestion...avoid the weekend if possible. If not...st
ay between Seviereville and PF and leave Gatlinburg for the weekdays. I swear it was worse than the DC beltway. Check out the cider mill for some great cider & apple pie.

We just left there last Saturday morning. Colors starting to come out but LOTS of rain while we were there. Check out Bear Cove RV Resort. Have stayed their twice and really nice. About a mile from Dollywood and not crowded. Saw lots of elk and several bears. Have fun!

Man, if you are there for the colors, skip Pigeon Forge/Gatlingburg and all that touristy nonsense and go stay in Townsend. Big Meadows Campground if you can get in. You will be literally 5 minutes from driving into Great Smoky Mountains National Park. And it is quiet and peaceful there. As in NO TRAFFIC!! If you want that crap, you can always take the 20 minute drive to Pigeon Forge and the insanity there…

I agree with you! We always stay in Townsend. One year we left there to drive over to Knoxville. We went through Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, but it took us three hours to get through the area. Drive south of Townsend to get to Knoxville, even if you are driving north. I think it will take much less time.

Singing Conventions last week in PF
We were there all of last week at Riverbend, great campground and we'll run. Rex takes care of his customers and has a lot of repeat business.
Last week was the National Quartet Convention at the convention center in PF and traffic was miserable, especially on the weekend. We generally arrive and depart on Monday to avoid traffic with the camper. The craft show is running at Patriot Park and I believe it also opens in Gburg at the convention center. Same stuff every year and appears to be mass produced. Noticed that the quilts at Lil Dolly's shop were made in China. Despite the traffic and rain all week we still managed to have fun with DW's siblings.
We have even entertained the thought of spending the winter in PF, still mulling that over.

Pigeon Forge
We are heading there Saturday, staying at King's Holly Haven. Going to Phil Waldrup Ministeries/David Jeremiah seminar starting 19th, and the Gospel Singers at Dollywood. Do it every year at this time, and have a ball. Drive safely!

Camping in the KOA at Townsend this week. Colors are just starting to change, should be at peak in a couple of weeks. As a few others have stated, I recommend the "quieter side of the Smokies". We spent Wednesday in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. Quit a bit of traffic, but nothing compared to what it will be this weekend.
