Faulty Slide Outs

Has anyone else had problems with the slide outs on their FR3? Our gear boxes have broken two times on each of our slide outs. Yup, 4 broken gear boxes in 3 years!
We purchased our FR3 new. It's a 2014, 30 footer.

We have a 2014 25ds that has been through 2 bedroom 1 main slide gearbox (same part). The first time it was without warning and covered. Dealer said it was due to improper cables adjustment. Next 2 were due to obstructions (my fault). Since replacing them myself and learning how....no more trouble. i keep the cables adjusted properly they work well. If you search you can easily find the accuslide training videos.

I've wondered myself over the years if its just faulty adjustment from the factory/dealership techs. If they adjust the cables too tight, I'm sure that puts way more pre-load on the motors, ultimately wearing them out.

Thank you all for your replies! We'll do some searching for accuslide training videos and learn how to adjust the cables.

Just took my 2017 Forrester in to have the rear bedroom slide fixed. One side stopped responding and I got a red fault line on my wall controller. They are ordering a new motor. Grrrrr. Only had the RV for 6 months. Seems like this is a common problem

Post One possible reason for slideout issues

Just wanted to provide one tidbit of data that might help someone. Right after we brought home our 30DS, and showed it off to our friends & neighbors, our living room slide gear broke. We were told that it happened because we extended the slides while parked in our sloped driveway, and that we should never extend the slides when we're not level.

I have a 2016 32DS, had to have the front slide motor replaced after just over a year, but FR did it under warranty. I went on the factory tour while at the FROG this year and my tour guy "let it slip" that FR got a bad batch of gears. I would call FR warranty service if this happens to see if they will fix it. I now carry a spare just in case.
