First 'long' trip! (pictures)

Just wanted to share some experiences with y'all.

We have busy jobs and usually go out the for a (long) weekend and mostly to the Florida Keys since it's so close for us.

So we decided to spend Thanksgiving with family in Alabama and take the bus! Two of us and our 3 large dogs. 8 nights. No issues!!! Did run the furnace for the first time (got down to 30'F couple of nights) and that thing WORKS! First two times it did set off the alarm, but that went away. I really did think my LP tank was bottomless with all the grilling and refrigerating on LP we have done so far, until you run the furnace, which does use quite some LP! Two minor things: 1) The awning pitch. Goes straight out, almost up actally, and the Lippert Easy-Pitch-Adjusting thing doesnt really work. 2) another Lippert thing, the steps. We use the 'left' side only and it does start to hang a bit, and is a bit uneven...

Drove 1500 miles + and it was great. CHF and 80psi for all tires.

tip: HOME DEPOT purchased a 8x9 outdoor rug, best upgrade ever. Was a remnant, paid $21.

tip: Bed Bath BeyondPurchased 2 Zero Gravity Loungers in store at Bath Bed Beyond, 20% off. Paid $40 each. Im 210lbs 6'1 and these things are VERY comfy.

First stop at Manatee Springs SP, Chiefland, Florida. One of the nicer SPs in Florida. Large sites, very woodsy, gators, manatees, blue fresh water springs:

site:

manatees:

Second stop in Georgia at Cotton Hill Campgrounds COE. On George F Walter Lake. Another favorite. Extra large sites (even, but beware of pitch backing in).

Cotton Hill CEO:

Walter F George Lake:

Then at family in Montevallo, Alabama. 20 acre site! Hooked up to 20 amp (wasnt gonna run A/C anyway) no problems.

After Thanksgiving on our way home, stopped at O'Leno SP, High Springs, Florida.

Looks great Dutch! Rug definitely helps keeping pebbles and stuff outside. The awning does adjust if you pull it down and set those thumb screws on the awning poles. Just not as low as we'd like at times. We'll have to visit BBB to take a look at those chairs. Our regular camping chairs are just so-so...

Thanks Mike!

Yeah that awning does adjust, but ours won't stay down. And the 'main' beam bends when doing so. Again, as with our entry door, I suppose the struts are to powerful?

Ill take pics next time

You are not the only one with an issue with the step. Check with your dealer and/or Forest River. I had my step fixed under warranty. I think you will find other threads about it.

Thanks Ken, appreciate it.

Love your rug added to the steps, ill look into that. Also love Leesburg, because that means that I passed Orlando Mayhem, plus I always smile when I see Howey-In-The-Hills)

@Dutch, my strut PN is 3108392.139. I don't know if the PN varies between different lengths of awnings. I just grab as high up as I can on the awning, and it comes down without much effort. Then just lock that set screw and good to go. Hope you figure it out.

😄 great rest stop in "Okahumpka" on the turnpike! What a name!! Bushnell has 4 very neat things: Blueberry Hill RV Resort; 2 for 1 ice cream sundaes across the road ( Thursday's) best, cleanest, small town breakfast spot one can find; and finally: Webster Flea Market....WOW!!
Beautiful country is a bonus.....

On the downside, had a blow out 4 years ago 20 miles south of Okahumpka. Burned name in my memory for life😖. $3,000 and four months later, traded units!!

Check out this thread regarding FR3 stair failures: http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...rs-115020.html. My registry has a picture of my failed stair support.
