First Trip

Hello All, finally got 1st trip under the belt; 550 mile round trip, 3 nights, severe thunderstorms one night; all of the stuff I read and learned from this forum was very valuable, FR should actually pay some of you for the info. We stayed @ Lake McBride State Park, Iowa $16/night, total $54 for 3 days.

A/C was superb, first thing I hooked up after leveling was electric and my Wife was happy, that is main point, Wife is HAPPY....

Used the 2x12 wood under jacks, the site we were at was dirt/gravel, uneven, auto level worked great, front tires slightly off ground, was a little disconcerting, mainly due to the slight movement when we walked around (almost like motion sickness)

Doggies loved the space (not happy about leashes), we did not use sewer, site did not have hook up, shower was 75 yards away.

Only downer was my inexperience using tow dolly on initial load-up, I over shot the dolly, had to have BIG tow truck come and lift Toad (Ford Fiesta), but second load up (coming home) we did super job (take time), the rear camera kept my stress level down as I could always see the Toad. Fortunately, insurance covers $75 for tow.

We tested everything, all works great, except Dealer gave us wrong size hose for water, but we had a backup.

Planning next trip to upper Michigan, another 3 day excursion, really pleased and thankful for this forum, you all have helped us so very much; THANK YOU

Sounded like a great time. $16 a night is my price range for sure. Did you try the fishing?

Glad you had a good time and wife was "Happy".

I do have a question, you posted the dealer gave you the wrong water hose size, in which way was it wrong?

the RV connector hose is 1/2, the hose is 5/8; I will double check, do not want to blame dealer unless warranted, but we used backup hose I stored, being honest here, I did not even check dealer hose first, only checked backup hose for fit. 'assumed' dealer hose would fit, I know better than to ever assume....lol
