First Year Maintenance

I''m at 3,000 miles on the odometer. I have an appointment for an oil change at an RV service center.

Couple of questions:
The oil change is $160.00 does that sound about right?
Do we follow the same mantra of changing the oil every 3,000 miles like a car?
At how many hours is the first generator oil change?

Anything else that needs to be done at 6 months?

Thanks

Grotto

The F53 is is 7500 miles. The generator is 20 hours than every 150 hours. But it's in the manuals.

Would look at some place other than a RV service center and get some pricing from them.

Havent gotten to do an oil change yet for the motor. (only 3k miles)
Have done 2 on the Generator and easy doesnt even cover it....its nearly mindless.

The only thing you need is a couple of quarts of oil and a couple of tools.
Pick up an inexpensive torque wrench and an inexpensive wrench for the 2 small bolts at Harbor Freight and just keep them in a bag next to the gennie oil. Take about 15 mins start to finish. Every other time clean out the resonator and your golden. So far i am very pleased with the Onan....wish it had a quieter exhaust...its not bad but could be quieter.

Plan on doing some serious sound proofing in the engine area and generator area over the winter.

The price of an engine oil change, should be the same as a v10 ford pick up. I put mobile 1 synthetic in, get the oil on sale at Costco. You can get the filter at Walmart. At $160
They are charging at least $100 for labor and that is if they are using synthetic oil.
