Fixed my seats today
Hi I will try to do a step by step seat fix
First I cut 2” out of the post
Then I bought a 2 7/8” outside dia. Pipe with a 3/16” wall thickness.
I wised a small square and ground my cuts so they were square on both cuts. Not perfect but close enough. The insert of the pipe will keep the post straight.
I had to grind the pipe as it was a little to snug this will take any slack out of the fit so the chair won’t rattle. Then inserted the pipe into the top and bottom and drilled and taped a bolt I wised a fine thread no.8 bolt. It’s over kill but safe is better than sorry. Then I installed a shim to push up the front of the seat. It’s a perfect ride the passenger I cut 1 3/4 and a 5/8 shim as my wife likes to put her legs on the dash. The driver I cut 2 to 2 1/8 har to tell I had a bit of grinding to level that one. And a 1/2” filler to the front I may add a washer later but for now it 99.9% better. I’m 6’ and my wife is 5’7” there’s measurement are built for us.
Good luck
Ian
