FR3 30DS: 6-Speed vs. 5-Speed Gear Indicators

We are about a year away from making an FR30 DS purchase and will be looking for a used model with the 6-speed transmission. So far I have seen the following gear shift indicators on the instrument panel:

"P RND 321"

"P RND 421"

Can anyone shed some light on the difference between these two indicators? Does the first one reflect the 5-speed transmission and the second the 6-speed?

I have seen both of these on 2016 FR3 30DS models. 2017s seem to only have the second markings. Can anyone confirm my assumption?

Thanks in advance,

Theo

Yes, the 2nd one is the 6 speed, which 2017's now have. That's the one to get!!

That is correct, the #4 on the shift panel indicated the six speed. The six speeds started with the 2016.5 models, and all the 17 model years.

Good call. We bought a late model 2016 30DS and insisted on the newer 6-speed transmission. It works MUCH better than the 5-speed, especially towing up a slope and when using cruise control.
