2014 30DS/Queen Bed
Always had problem. Slide scrapped up carpet on the platform on the back end of the MH. Two trips to dealer. Third time the kept it 2 weeks and said they had approval from Forest River to remove the slide. It was returned with shavings/crap all over the back carpet. Not sure if it is fixed, but it does go in and out, making some noise.

Bigger problem: The main slide won't go out now. Binds and grinds. Multiple conversations with dealer so far this afternoon, with no resolution. This is a bad scene, we are scheduled for a month long trip in a couple of weeks.

You have broken teeth on the gear. We had same problem. Once the have the replacement motor/gear it can be fixed in 3 hours.

Just going to add one should not operate slides unless coach is level. Doing so can damage the slides / put stress on the motors. havent seen anybody state that but when i did Walk through dealer stressed that slides are designed to work when coach is leveled.

Here is ours...

30 DS, King Bed, Build date June 2014, Purchase July 2014
No Carpet, Dark Gray Leather seats with Baseball stitch.
No slide issues so far.
Two TV's, One in and one out
Issues to date:
Bad Vibration while traveling, Tires balanced, one replaced that would not balance
TV, No local Chanels, Coax cable end not attached behind wall.
Refrigerator Not cooling very well. Found Thermistor for cold adjust just slid in the adjustment and never raised, Touch of superglue, Works fine
Refrigerator door panels slid down, Dealer replaced them both
AC cooling, Thermostat fan setting on low, no manual, dealer forgot to tell me about it. Downloaded manual, Set to AU, (automatic) works well. NOTE: don't wait to turn it on until the coach is already hot. Even 15k AC will not keep it cool.
Loud rattle while driving: Front steps bolts loose, tighten, rattle gone.
Strange noise while driving and only in the front. Grill openings loose and vibrate, adjusted closers to be more tight and added rubber pad so when they close they stay tight.
Low point drains, leaked. Crimped fittings on bottom loose. Re-crimped ok now. Added shutoff valves to low point drains so I don't have to take a fitting off when draining and have water run down arm. FR should do this. Cost $3.00 for two valves
Auto Levelers, would pop 100amp fuse. Found several electrical connections loose, Tighten and works fine.
Generally the quality has been normal for just about every low to mid priced unit. Every manufacturer seems to use the same items and generally build them the same.

Have a new 2014 25D, Bothe slides gear boxes went out (twice). Have only had the unit 4 mo. Cable on large slide broke. Not a happy camper with FR.

We've had ours for 1.4 yrs, 15 plus trips and 5000 miles of family fun. No slide issues no major issues all little stuff all fixed by the dealer no problem

Two weeks ago after pulling into my new site, the main slide wouldn't go out. Service guys talked to Travis Bird at Forest River who told them the gear box on the slides is a recall. They are to replace the gear box in the main and bed slides. However, we are still awaiting the part. Supposed to come in today.

Hey BarbaraG, Are all FR3 models and years included in the slide gear box recall? I have a 2015 30DS and I cringe every time I put the slides out or bring them in.

I don't know. I only know that the guys who will do the replacement for me said that they were told it's a recall and that FR recommended they replace the bed slide gear box at the same time even though it hasn't failed yet (makes suspicious noises though).

Here's the contact at Forest River. I got it from a post somewhere on this site and provided it to the service guys. Travis is who they spoke to. I received no notice of a recall.
