Fresh Water pump

When dry camping, the water when turned on, pulses. Eg: the pump cycles on/off several times per second. Water works fine when hooked to city water. This happened once before, but when I took it to the dealer, the problem went away.

Any thoughts?

Flojet pumps have a diaphram pressure switch. Assuming you have the usual 55psi 3.7(from memory;-) gpm pump, the pump will cycle frequently to maintain pressure. The more demand, the more it cycles until the demand exceeds the capacity, then it stays on.
So is it the noise or is it a real problem? If you want, you can add an accumluator which maintain a more even flow and reduce cycling. Its like a pressure tank for a well pump.

Thanks for the reply. I believe it to be a problem because previously if I turned on the taps, water flow would be constant and the pump would run until I turned the tap off. Now, when I turn on the tap, water flow oscillates between a trickle and full and the pump quickly turns on and off.

If you know where the water pump is check the fittings on the intake side of the pump.

It fixed itself AGAIN. This is frustrating. This morning, after we disconnected at a campground, the pump runs as long as the tap is open and the pressure is constant. Thanks for the replies.
