Fuel economy
Recently purchased a 2015 FR3 28DS and took it on a longish trip. Mostly highways, but not really any mountains or any of that. Drove at about 70MPH most of the way and got a little more than 6mpg with no toad. Does that seem about right? Or do I need to get something checked?

Driving that fast 6 mpg seems reasonable to me, you may be surprised by slowing down just 5 mph you may get a real jump in milage it was that way with my class A

Your haulin, but that sounds within reason! I'm usually getting 6.5-7 mpg with a toad and 7-7.5mpg without at 62-65 mph with the generator running. Which I'm told takes off 0.5 mpg off your numbers. I find that 2k rpm is a pretty good rpm to run.

Thanks for your replies! I'll try 65 or so on the way back and see what that does to the fuel economy.

I get 7.5 with generator running hauling the mail.
I get 6.6 hauling a jeep, generator running and hauling the mail.
I have never driven it less than just short of the governor.

At 70 MPH that big flat front starts to drag a lot. Drop it down to 62 to 65 and it should come up a little. However, I remember from my old F-53 Bounder days that the only way to improve your mileage beyond 6.5 to 7 is "to lie about it!"
TOADs really don't reduce your mileage unless you are in the mountains as it is mostly form drag and not weight.

Pulling the toad I averaged 7.9 mpg by staying around 65. Without toad around 8.3 staying under 70.

Thanks Wayne ... just curious, why do you use car trailer rather than flat tow for your toad?

I have a 2014 30 DS and finally experimented with mileage only to confirm what's already been said-keep it under 65 and have patience. I drove to Watkins Glen in July from Maine by myself with plenty of time so I stayed right around 60-62, and took advantage of drafting semi's when they were going about the same speed. Even through the hills of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre I averaged 8.9 MPG (unit was not fully loaded). This beat the 6.9 I achieved a month before coming back from Pittsburgh on the same route with the family and an average of 68-70 MPH.

Pretty much the same story. 63mph at 1900rpm with 4-down towing (Cr-V) and running the generator ~50% of time gives me an averaged 7.2 to 7.5 mpg.

Hit 5k miles on our 2016 30DS this year and were avg overall around 7.1. We've had a lot of mountain driving though as were in WNY and visited the Catskill mountains twice. I push the speed a bit around 70 but the wife is more a of a steady 65 or less kind of driver. At one point with her driving i'm pretty sure we were getting over 8 and close to 9 but I took over about halfway through the tank and the avg tanked pretty quick.
