I agree, but I was typically paying .40 more a gallon for diesel and getting only 3mpg better. It doesn't matter to me what I'm driving, but if momma aint happy, no one's happy. I bought the GTown. Momma happy!

Try owning a 40' diesel pusher towing an SUV with $4.50/gal diesel prices not so many years ago. I contend, mileage is what it is and if someone needs to worry about GAS MILEAGE, perhaps that someone shouldn't own the RV.
Not trying to be "mean" here, it's just that being disappointed in low gas mileage seems to take some of the joy out of this wonderful hobby and that's really a shame!

Took 8000 mile trip last summer in western states and Canada with 2015 2500 ram longhorn diesel pulling 3025 windjammer got 14.5 overall

I can't get over 11 with my Duramax.... empty... and I'm not starting a war on Diesel vs Gas here.... I've had 6 Duramax 1-tons (for my business) and no matter how we pencil them out, cut them up, and warrant having them, the cost of fuel, the price of ownership, is nowhere close to having gas...
I'm happy with gas and I'm happy with my FR3... I'm not ecstatic with 6.5 mph but would rather deal with that than own another diesel truck.
I can live with the difference...

The fuel consumption is not good.
I know there are a lot of factors... and I really don't care but I'm routing my summer trip coming up and would like to not have to stop all the time...
It's only about 60 to 90 miles (depending on which part of the coast we go to) one way but it's weird to be looking at a half tank after not being that far away from home...
This summer's trip will be roughly 2000 miles... @6.5mpg I'm looking at 308 gallons and at $3.00 / gal... I could be looking at $924 for the trip....
Just wondering what others are getting...

Gas Mileage
Definitely huge variations by speed and terrain. I like to look a the bigger picture. In three months of travel last summer from the 49th north to the Arctic Ocean at Deadhorse we did 11.2 MPG for the summer. That's ALL engine running time so I was pretty happy. To balance the picture we had days we were down below 6 in some of the really tough terrain on the Dalton Hwy. We have a relatively heavy TT with GCVW of 18600lbs ready to roll.

These stations will all be at $3.00 plus in the next 1-2 days with our required summer fuel switch over mandated here in Sunny warm Califiornia.
However there is the low end also with Costco at the bottom but they'll be up quickly also. Wholesale prices went up 57cents overnight according to the news.

So, in addition to earthquakes, no rain, high taxes, and parking lot traffic, you get to pay $3 buck a gallon gas ???
Here in Va, shenandoah valley area...
I get a bit of snow, 4 beautiful seasons, enough rain that I have to mow every 5 days, and just paid $1.42 per gallon, and that's expected to go down.
Boy, you sure are lucky !!!

Wait, it gets worse.
Local food center, Martins, gives points toward gas purchases. After last trip, gassed up, got 25 gallons to top tank off. Ended up paying 48 cents per gallon.

Gas is $1.75 here in Salem Oregon... few cents either way but it's running pretty close to $1.75.
What tends to happen right after Spring, is gas starts creeping up until the end of Summer... then it goes back down some...
The oil companies say that the price increases are because of refinery shut downs, fires, or changing from "Winter Blends" to " Summer Blends".... whatever they can use to raise the price during driving / vacation season....
This last summer was no different than anywhere else... I went on multiple trips... Moab Utah, Sturgis SD.... gas was all over the place but about 60 to 70 cents more during summer months...

We have a 2012 Coachmen Mirada 29DS and I tow a Fiat 500 (best tow vehicle and RV ever and we have had a few). We average 7 mpg and I keep very good records. I stay 65 or under.

We just came back from a 2600 mile run with a Windsong 326 pulling 4100 lbs of car and dolly. Mountains don't matter much nor does the toad. Wind is more the enemy. 5.5 to 7.3 depending on the headwind at 63-65 mph.
