Generator problems

I have a 2014 FR3 30DS with a 4000 Onan generator. When using the generator while driving and the outside temperature reaches 85 or higher the generator stops. It will not start again until it cools off. Anyone else seem to have this problem or is it just my unit? And if there are others out there, is there a fix?

Its just your unit, we don't have any issues starting like that. First thought that comes to mind is vapor lock.

Also, if you don't want to work on it, the genset has a 3 year warranty I believe, so take it into an Onan dealership to have it checked out.

IMO when driving the air movement around the motorhome is preventing the air from properly circulating through the generator to cool it making the genset run hot and possibility vapor locking. Consider making some type of air scoop to direct air to the intake side of the generator.

Check fuel pump. Was having the same type of problem, Onan replaced the pump under warranty and it never did it again, They said the pump was weak and they had had problems with a batch of pumps.
4000KW

Yes there was a recall on the fuel pump for the 2014 4000KW per Onan. I had mine replaced on my 2015 bought in 2014 immediately before I had any problems. Dealer installed at no charge. I'm up and down I5 with the genset and the rooftop air running all the time with absolutely no problems.

Why not!
The mobile transportation industry has been using APU's (Auxiliary Power Units) for many, many years while the vehicle is in motion.
