Easy Headlight Fix
On our first trip, California to Maine and back, it became obvious how poor the lighting was on the way out.
Once in Maine, this is what was done to make the headlight tolerable.
Ours is a early build 25DS.
The bulbs are H3, so you can get 100 watt version at any Tractor Supply or auto repair store. The low beams, high beams, and fog lamps use the H3.
I replaced all bulbs with 100 watt versions, they are inexpensive and easy to find.
The fog lamps are a high quality brand (?), built well with heavy cast metal casings, with the smallest little fiddly screws with straight bit heads that you will pray to your god while removing (that they dont strip). Getting them out and removing the back cover is traumatic, so traumatic that I only did one side since it was freakin freezing in Maine (duh, California boy!).
The low beams/high beams require you remove some crazy covers that are just as fiddly, but the bulbs are held in with spring clips. Pop them in and before putting the covers on, on to the next step - alignment.
I just parked in front of a garage door, and adjusted everything to what seemed reasonable for each beam mode. Low beams have a sharp cutoff, adjusted the left side a bit lower than the right and set the cutoff to not blind oncoming drivers but at a higher level and much longer throw that what was set at the factory.
High beams were actuaully pointed far too high, up into space. So I adjusted them down to what seemed reasonable so they threw the light straight down the road pointed about 75 yards or so ahead and let the wide angle light fill in the rest.
After all that drama, the drive back to California was much safer, and not ONCE did we get "flashed" by oncoming drivers on low beams with fog lights on. We ALWAYS drive with fog lights on for safety, the low beams - even with 100 watt bulbs are poorly designed for some reason.
When on high beams did we get a flash, but I could count on one hand the number of times that happened - mostly due to our inattention.
So thats my not so short story, your results may vary.
